While the Tories take a hard line and Labour aims to divert young people from crime, the Lib Dems offer a public health approachFrom the off, the Conservative party hardline approach on crime and justice under Johnson’s premiership became clear: 20,000 new police officers on the streets was one of his first pledges, followed by increased use of stop and search, prison expansion, more Tasers, and longer jail sentences – all of which have ended up in the manifesto.So, clearly, tough on crime. But what about the causes of crime? Very little on offer.
